The following is a summary of benefits offered by the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC). Your particular benefits package will depend on your employee classification. Here is a look at what you might be eligible for.

Health Benefits
Available to Full-Year and Seasonal employees working 30 or more hours per week. PSMFC provides a comprehensive package of benefit choices including medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage. Employees are eligible for coverage the 1st of the month following date of hire or classification change. Open Enrollment occurs every November with an effective date of January 1st. UnitedHealthcare creates and publishes the Machine-Readable Files on behalf of PSMFC. Life, Long Term Disability, Accidental Death Insurance
Employees are automatically enrolled the 1st of the month following the date of hire. PSMFC pays 1.5 times the employees annual salary up to $300,000 for Life and Accidental Death and 60% of your salary for Long Term Disability. Available to Full-Year employees working 30 or more hours per week.

Employer Paid Pension Plan
PSMFC contributes 14% of the employee’s gross salary into an account for the employee. Eligibility is established after the employee has completed the initial 2,000 hours of work in 12 continuous months of service upon plan year (July 1st). Vesting is 20% per year with 100% vesting after 5 years (a pension year for vesting equals at least 1,000 hours of service).

Post Employment Health Plan (PEHP)
The PEHP is a benefit which helps participants pay for certain qualified medical expenses after their retirement or termination. The PEHP has two individual accounts: Universal Reimbursement Account – PSMFC contributes $10/month for each eligible participant Insurance Premium Reimbursement Account – this account is funded at termination or retirement with 50% of accrued sick leave for employees fully vested in the pension plan.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
The flexible spending account is a voluntary program to set aside money pre-tax to pay for unreimbursed health related expenses ($2750 annual limit) and qualified dependent care costs ($5000 annual limit). Available to Full-Year employees working 30 or more hours per week.

Deferred Compensation
The deferred compensation (457) plan is a voluntary benefit that employees can participate in and contributions are taken out through a payroll deduction. A deferred compensation plan allows employees to make contributions on a pre-tax basis. Available to all employees.

Voluntary Life and AD&D
Employees may purchase voluntary life and AD&D for themselves, a spouse and their dependents. Available to Full-Year employees working 30 or more hours per week.

Short Term Disability Insurance
Short Term Disability Insurance (STDI) replaces a portion of your income when you are recovering from a covered illness, injury, surgery, or childbirth. STDI is a voluntary benefit available to Full-Year employees working 30 or more hours per week. Allstate is a voluntary benefit available to Full-Year and Seasonal employees working 30 or more hours per week.

Allstate Insurance
Allstate voluntary insurance provides a variety of policies to complement the PSMFC health benefits packets. Premiums are made through a payroll deduction.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP is a free and confidential program for employees and their dependents through Cascade Centers. The program assists with issues such as marital conflict, depression and anxiety, stress, family relationships, conflicts at work, financial or legal concerns, alcohol or drug problems, grieving and other personal problems. PSMFC has also partnered with Cascade Centers to offer a Personal Wellness Program. These programs and resources are available to all employees.

Wireless Services Discounts
PSMFC has partnered with AT&T wireless and Verizon Wireless to bring savings to ALL active PSMFC employees. Employees are eligible for service and/or equipment discounts with both vendors.

Holiday Pay
PSMFC provides up to 8 hours of pay for 11 observed holidays annually.

Vacation Leave
Employees earn vacation leave for hours worked based on their years of service. Employees may carry over up to 350 hours of vacation leave each calendar year.  Full-Year employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible.

         10+                   192 hours

Sick Leave
Sick leave is accrued based on hours worked with an annual maximum of 96 hours. All PSMFC employees accrue sick leave.

Personal Leave
Eligible employees receive up to 8 hours of personal leave on January 1st each year or at the beginning of seasonal employment. Full-Year and Seasonal employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible.

Bereavement, Jury Duty, and Military Leave
Available to all PSMFC employees.
