Pacific Fisheries Bycatch Program

The Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission Pacific Fisheries Bycatch Program is a collaborative research program established in 2008. In partnerships with industry, stakeholders, fisheries managers, federal and state agencies, and academic institutes, this program has been able to pursue a wide-ranging array of research projects that address conservation engineering and bycatch reduction issues in eastern North Pacific fisheries. This program seeks to continue examining novel techniques to improve fishing gear efficiencies, reduce bycatch impacts, and that support sustainable fisheries practices.
