John & Patti Bitter's '65 Town Wagon

My '65 is stock except for 1980 360. Also, very road worthy - 11 day, 3,500 mile odyssey from San Fran to Charlotte - I only had to buy new tires, wheels & brakes. It's an older restoration (maybe 10 years) & is a classic "20-footer" - looks great from 20 feet, but as you get closer you see lots of little stuff that needs to be done. Usual rust around roof line, front body mounts & rear wheel wells - mostly surface, a few places are all the way through - getting that fixed shortly. Right now it's in the shop getting mechanicals in order - tune-up, replacing all pinion seals, rear main bearing seal, spring bushings, shocks, repacking steering knuckles, all new fluids, belts, etc. Also, hunting rubber for windows & door seals & building spare parts inventory.

Eventually going to be used as the company truck for a downtown burrito restaurant my wife & I are starting - lots of time in that these days. Trying to get open just before Christmas when it's a little slow - but my learning curve, the landlord's regulations & the city's permit process are maddeningly slow.

If anyone comes through Charlotte, NC - let us know, we'll go for a ride & treat you to a burrito !!!

Cheers, John & Patti Bitter
