SAS Programmer/Statistician (Job Ref.#450CA400)

LOCATION: Portland, OR - Headquarters Office
WORK HOURS: Generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time; Federal GS 12 level

Note: This position will be employed funded through the RecFIN (Recreational Fisheries Information Network) and CRFS (California Recreational Fisheries Survey) projects. Qualified applicants will be screened and interviews scheduled in a timely manner after the closing date.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

DUTIES:

  1. Provides SAS programming support for the RecFIN database and the California Recreational Fisheries Survey (CRFS).
  2. Works with RecFIN Programmer/Analyst in processing recreational catch and effort data to make expanded catch estimates used by federal and state fishery managers.
  3. Provides statistical skills for the RecFIN field sampling programs and the catch and effort estimation routines.
  4. Provides data outputs for California Department of Fish & Game from the CRFS data.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES DESIRED BY THE POSITION:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming , Statistics, or Fisheries
  2. SAS Programming Experience and expertise.
  3. Statistical skills, experience, and expertise
  4. Effective communication skills
