About the Habitat Program:
Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission's Habitat Program is involved in programs on the west coast that further habitat protection for anadromous, estuarine and marine fish species. It works on estuarine and watershed conservation and restoration, watershed education for decision makers, and on committees that advise policy makers on habitat conservation including the Pacific Fishery Management Council's Habitat Committee and on the West Coast Governor's Agreement on Ocean Health. It also works to assist fishermen and communities recycle fishing net and other marine debris.
It is also working to establish a Fish Habitat Partnership on the west coast that will foster collaboration to further progress on marine and estuarine conservation priorities.
This site provides access to information and links about these efforts. It also provides access to information of interest such as climate change and essential fish habitat designations for groundfish, salmon and other managed species.
